Combating Climate Change: Regional Responses to Global Challenges (10th Anniversary event)

DESCRIPTION: Climate change will increasingly impact every aspect of every life in every region around the world. Through the lens of the Columbia Global Centers, Columbia faculty will share their perspectives on the impacts of climate change in different regions around the world and how each region has been working to mitigate these effects.

Ruth DeFries (University Professor; Denning Family Professor of Sustainable Development) will speak on agriculture in India

Josh Fisher (Director of the AC4 Program) will speak on conflict management and water in the Middle East

Lisa Sachs (Director of the Center on Sustainable Investment) will speak on how extractive industries are addressing the climate crisis in Latin America

Jason Bordoff (Director of the Center on Global Energy Policy) will speak on energy in China

Faye McNeill (Professor of Chemical Engineering) will speak on air pollution in Africa and India
