BIOGRAPHY: Christopher Zappa is a Lamont Research Professor in Ocean and Climate Physics, and a Lecturer in Earth and Environmental Sciences. His research interests include air-sea interaction, wave dynamics and wave breaking, effect of near-surface turbulence on heat, gas, and momentum transport, infrared remote sensing, upper-ocean processes, coastal and estuarine processes. Prior to joining Columbia in 2003, he received his Ph.D. in 1999 from the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute, where he also accepted a Postdoctoral Scholar Award. He received his Masters in Engineering in 1994 from the University of Washington.
