Atlantic Ocean
Project Type: Research

DESCRIPTION: The project will use new sediment cores from the Atlantic Ocean to reconstruct the Holocene interval to characterize the timing and abruptness of the mid-late Holocene end of the African Humid Period and conduct detailed records of the past millennia to create a geological context.

OUTCOMES: Conducted CaCO3 percentage analyses, conducted U-Th geochemistry on several cores to conduct Th-normalized fluxes of dust. Used plant leaf lipid molecules in the cores to determine vegetative cover.
