Project Type: Research

DESCRIPTION: Our project is part of the ONR/PISTON project, whose primary goal is to forge a better understanding of the BSISO (boreal summer intraseasonal oscillation) in the South China Sea (SCS) and Philippines – its dynamics, predictability, air-sea interaction, and other facets, particularly as the BSISO reaches the Maritime Continent (MC) and its large-scale envelope interacts with the complex geography, orography, and oceanography of the region. An additional strong focus, given the time scale of the PISTON field campaign, is the diurnal cycle over ocean, land, and coastal regions.
