Earth Institute Research Projects

Absolute Paleointensity from the Cretaceous Long Normal

Lead PI: Helen Evans

Unit Affiliation: Marine Geology & Geophysics, Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory (LDEO)

October 2010 - October 2013
Inactive
Global
Project Type: Research

DESCRIPTION: The project will examine a number of samples and cubes using thermal demagnetization to define their magnetic signal. These samples will provide the magnetic single in the rocks to determine the strength of Earth's magnetic field during the Cretaceous Long Normal.
