Collaborative Research: Multi-nuclide approach to systematically evaluate the scatter in surface exposure ages in Antarctica and to develop consistent alpine glacier chronologies

Lead PI: Dr. Joerg Michael Schaefer , Dr. Gisela Winckler

Unit Affiliation: Geochemistry, Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory (LDEO)

May 2011 - August 2015

Antarctica
Project Type: Research

DESCRIPTION: The proposed work is an extension of prior work by the team conducted on modeling surface processes and dating glacial landforms in the Dry Valleys with terrestrial cosmogenic nuclides.

OUTCOMES: Improvement of capability of separating feldspar and pyroxene from sandstones, granitites and dolerites. 2 major findings
