DESCRIPTION: As a collaborator in the Project ”Studies and pilot initiatives to promote environmental sustainability in Dominican Republic and Haiti,” CRED is conducting research on environmental risk perceptions and human migration in an effort to improve our understanding of the linkage between environmental conditions, poverty, human health, disaster management, and migration in Haiti.

OUTCOMES: 2013-2014: The outcomes of this project include a better understanding of the factors that determine migration behavior in face of environmental risks in the South of Haiti. Products consists of an analysis of existing household survey data, collection of new data through in-depth interviews, writing of a report including key recommendations for survey design, and training of Haitian students in social science research methods.
