DESCRIPTION: This project investigated and quantified the impacts of recent storms events and related record flooding and suspended sediment loads on the redistribution of sediments and their associated contaminants. We analyzed major changes in sediment deposition in key areas of the Hudson River as result of these extreme storm events in an effort to update our understanding of tributaries as sediment sources, and to build a framework for understanding the storm-related impacts on sediment estuarine processes. For this we used a combination of sediment cores, subbottom and bathymetric change analysis.
