Project Type: Research

DESCRIPTION: The project will seek to help continue the acquisition of data on Antarctic ice conditions before the deployment of ICESat-2 as a part of NASA's IceBridge project. High-resolution potential field data, gravity data, and magnetics data will be collected and processed to meet Operation IceBridge mission objectives.

OUTCOMES: The Airborne Inertially Referenced Gravimeter has been maintained, OIB flew 10 DC-8 missions between October and November 2010, designed and built parts for a magnetometer housing unit, flew 40 OIB missions over the Arctic between March and May 2011 and 24 over Antarctic between October and November 2011, produced two peer-reviewed papers, presented eleven papers at meetings, and produced one technical report.
