Earth Institute Update - Global Climate

Steve Cohen - Watch the Video

Dear Colleague,

There is a great deal of excitement right now at the Earth Institute and throughout Columbia University as the nations of the world gather in Copenhagen to deal with the critical issue of climate change.

When our scientists started looking at climate change decades ago at the Institute's Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory, very few people thought of it as an important public policy issue. Now it is a central part of the debate.

Climate change is the kind of problem that needs to be addressed at global, national and community levels. We have a number of the world's experts in climate science, law and policy, and over a hundred Ph.D. scientists focusing on this critical issue. We are helping to provide the understanding of climate issues needed to make good decisions that will benefit people around the world.
