Mrs. Beckett is the senior member of Tony Blair's Cabinet responsible for climate change policy. Since 2001, she has led the UK's international efforts to tackle the challenge of climate change, including the commitment to reduce carbon emissions 60% by 2050. She will outline the UK's recent achievements in promoting economic growth while reducing emissions and set out the UK strategy for achieving its visionary long-term target. She will make a compelling business case for climate action, and show that tackling climate change need not have a negative impact on economic growth. She will further consider what international steps are now needed to take future action on climate change.
