Liqing Zhang is a Fulbright senior visiting fellow in CGSD at Earth Institute. He is also a professor of international finance, deputy dean of School of Finance and director of International Finance Studies at Central University of Finance and Economics (CUFE) in Beijing, China. He got his PHD degree in economics in Renmin University of China and began teaching at CUFE in 1987. He was a visiting fellow at Economic Development Institute at World Bank (1995), Tilburg University at Netherlands (1996) and the Institute for International Economics in Washington D.C. (2004-2005).

Liqing Zhang has directed many research projects, including “China: Accumulation of Foreign Exchange Reserves and Reform of Exchange Rate Regime” (sponsored by China National Social Science Foundation, 2005), “Reform of Exchange Rate Regime: International Experiences and China's Selection” (sponsored by China National Natural Science Foundation, 2004), “Financial Liberalization and Financial Stability” (sponsored by China Ministry of Education, 2002-2003), and “Financial Opening in Emerging Market Countries” (Sponsored by China Ministry of Finance, 1998-1999). He has also frequently been involved in the advisory services in China's governmental departments, including State Administration of Foreign Exchange, People's Bank of China, and State Development and Reform Commission.
Liqing Zhang has served as executive directors of China World Economics Society and China International Finance Society since 2001. He has been editorial members of World Economy and International Finance Studies for several years . He was honored a lot of awards and fellowships, including the New Century Project for Excellent Innovative Human Resource by Ministry of Education (2005), the 21st Century Young Academic Leader by the Ministry of Finance (1997), and the Nationwide Excellent Thesis Prize by China Financial Society (1992, 2000).
