Part 1
Please note that in completing Part 1 - "Improved support to national efforts to achieve the MDGs"- UNCTs are asked to provide the general outcomes or results that they expect to achieve collectively by the end of year, and the activities they intend to undertake to achieve their common goals. Specific operational programming activities of UN agencies related to the MDGs need not be included.
Improved support to national efforts to achieve the MDGs
Joint advocacy, communication activities and campaigning A)A fully functioning UNCT communication group that establishes a work plan meets monthly and implements approved activities.
B)Greater sensitization on HIV/AIDS prevention.
C)Greater public awareness on UN activities and MDGs.
Issue two Newsletters per year.
Up-date UNCT web on a regular basis. 
A)Agencies to confirm names of their Focal Points in the group.
UNICEF OIC to guide group in its work and programme.

Training's consultant to assist in reformatting web and to train Agencies Focal Points.
 
A)Decision has been taken to create the group under the guidance of the UNICEF chargé.

Monitoring and reporting First MDG draft report available.  Secure commitment from authorities to ensure participation of PRSP Thematic group members.

B)MDG1+MDG2+MDG3+MDG7. Phase II of UNCT joint Project in Porto Alegre completed, resulting in improved sanitation, empowerment of women and an employment opportunity review.
C)MDG4 Reduce Child Mortality. A nutritional survey conducted and analyzed.
D)Capacity of national Institute of Statistics strengthened to issue data.
E)Capacity of Federation of NGOs strengthened and improved quality of NGO work. 
A)Inter-agency support for the formulation of the Plan of Action in pooling resources and actively participating in process.
B)Seek proposals from Porto Alegre community.
Formulate operational plan and distribute roles amongst concerned agencies with respective TORs and follow-up mechanisms.

C)Finalized a technical note identifying:
i)the best methodology, which would allow consistent comparisons with previous surveys.
ii)required resources in terms of technical staff and funding requirements.

A)UNAIDS Thematic Group to take the lead in ensuring that ministry of health takes the necessary steps to plan various stages required
(diagnosis, analysis, plan of action) and involves other ministries to complete process.
B)The strategy is to follow an integrated approach to respond to community needs and to use Agency as per mandate.
C)Create a working group chaired by the Ministry of Health, which will lead the entire process and coordinate with PRSP Thematic Group members on MDG formulation.
D)Ad-hoc UN Group to prepare TORs and review recommendations for incorporation in respective agencies support programmes.

Part 2
Improved country level coordination in:
Harmonization of UN programme cycles Cycles already harmonized for UNICEF, UNFPA and UNDP for period of 2002-2006               
Linkages between UN instruments and national planning processes, including PRSPs, and UNCT support to them. ·PRSP monitoring and coordination mechanisms strengthened and review meetings with partners held quarterly.
·NGO coordination strengthened
 
·RC to advocate greater frequency of PRSP monitoring reviews with UNCT and other partners.
·UNCT to provide logistical and organizational support to Govt.
·UNCT to support coordination mechanisms of Federation for dialogue with all partners.
