During the past 3 years the Earth Institute has established the Cross Cutting Initiatives as a means to tackle complex multi-disciplinary problems related to sustainable development. It guides the investment of seed funding, coordinates the seminar series on sustainable development, and is overseeing the writing process of the book 'Is Sustainable Development Feasible?' The CCI is guided by a steering committee with representation from all relevant disciplines. The CCI Steering Committee is comprised of the following members, with their respective cross-cutting theme indicated:
