The ADVANCE Program will make four to eight awards each year for junior
and mid-career women scientists in the Earth Institute to exert scientific leadership by convening interdisciplinary
research workshops in collaboration with senior scientists in the Earth Institute or
elsewhere. The purposes of the workshops are to provide the organizers with an opportunity
to advance new areas of scientific research, to be recognized as scientific leaders, to
promote interaction with influential colleagues, and to gain experience in organization and
chairing a workshop with the help of a senior partner.
