Louise Rosen
Director, Office of Research and Academic Programs



Louise Rosen was appointed the Director of the Office of Education Programs in May 2006. In August 2007, that office was merged into a new Office of Academic and Research Programs and Rosen was named Director of this new office.

Louise and her staff support the Earth Institute’s academic governance process and educational and research initiatives. She continues to serve as the assistant director of the MPA Program in Environmental Science and Policy and is also an adjunct lecturer in the School of International and Public Affairs, teaching the Earth Institute Practicum. Recently, Rosen acted as the interim Director of Funding Initiatives before Terry Karamanos started in July 2007.

Rosen received her BS in Economic and Political Geography from the London School of Economics, and her MS from the Columbia Graduate School of Journalism. Louise has served as staff writer, reporter and education correspondent for various publications such as The New York Times, Newsweek, Forbes, and Fortune Small Business. She had also successfully co-founded and helped launch a magazine prior to moving to NYC. Her research interests include economic and political development, and environmental justice.
